Next Camp: 9am Monday 28th September – 3pm Thursday 1st October 2026, with parents welcome to arrive at 2pm to watch their campers ride one last time. Please note: Teen campers must be able to confidently walk and trot a horse. No beginner riders. One term of horse riding lessons or similar is required before a new to riding person can attend.
Teen camp is run at our farm, Falling Creek Ranch, which is 15km east of Wanganui. We will be riding everyday, including treks, challenges on horseback, games etc, as well as a ton of other activities too. Each cabin has a leader and there is also adult supervision throughout. Make some amazing new friends, enjoy time in the great outdoors, good food and loads of fun. Bus pick-ups and drop-offs can be arranged. We enjoy three homemade meals each day as well as snacks and of course canteen once a day. (campers can bring between $5 – $20 cash for canteen)
Some of the things we could do… barrel races, damsels in distress, mud wrestling, swimming, catching fresh water crayfish, making huts to sleep out in, big group games, stock work on horseback, bush bashing, pole bending, lighting a fire with a flint and steel and natural bush materials, campfire cooking, crafts, treks, capture the flag, bonfire, hardman challenges, whip cracking, lassoing, raft building and races, night ride, spotlight, water fight, mounted shooting, archery, air rifles and more… Check out our previous camp photos on our website gallery or check out our Facebook page to see what kind of things we do at camp.
You can bring your own horse if it is fit to hilly country and:
They can be off the lead all the time – no exceptions.
They must be able to catch, groom, pick out the hooves and saddle up their pony.
They need to be able to walk, trot in a group of horses and maintain control. They must be able to put their pony through mud and water, ride up and down hills and able to safely navigate the pony in bush and trees. or use one of ours. We will put you on a horse to match your size and ability. All equipment is supplied with our horses. During the camp you will be taught how to care for and ride your horse (tailored to individual’s experience) as well as gain confidence through farm treks and games.
