Come and enjoy a weekend away on our epic multi day trek. During the weekend we will be riding around the surrounding farmland, with wonderful views including mountains, native bush, the sea and plenty of beautiful valleys and plateaus. As well as our main trek on the Saturday, on Sunday we do a cattle muster on horseback, if it rains to the point of being unridable, campers can watch Zane work on of the horses he is starting. Other activities could include shepherds games (ie. pole bending, barrels, ring race etc), or doing our cowboy challenge obstacle course if people are interested in having a go. Whatever we get up to, its guaranteed to be lots of fun. Many people enjoy it so much they keep coming back to more camps. Our horses are quiet, sensible mounts, used to doing these treks. Trek will be at a walk, mostly on tracks, on hilly terrain with a few technical spots, no riding experience needed but not recommended for people that are very anxious , or unfit/not used to riding. When safely possible, we can accommodate those wishing to do some faster riding. Ride length on the Saturday around 5 hours. Ride on Sunday aprox. 2-3 hours. You can bring your own horse or hire one of ours. Previous campers have really enjoyed meeting and making new friends with some like minded, horse loving people. Each night after dinner we have some games or a campfire or just hang out and chat. All meals will be provided and are delicious, home cooked meals, cooked from scratch with as much fresh ingredients straight from the farm and garden as possible. BYO alcoholic/non alcoholic beverages and one thing to add to a grazing platter on Saturday afternoon. Accommodation is in our home. We have two bunkrooms with two king single, comfortable bunks in each room, one queen bedroom, and a second extra large bedroom with a queen bed and mattresses on the floor, and one outside powered cabin with a queen bed, single bunk and a fold out sofa bed. Beds are made up with sheets, duvet, and extra blanket and pillow. Or you can provide your own accommodation and stay in a tent or your float if you prefer for $30 less, you can still use the bathroom facilities in the house.
Start: Friday afternoon anytime from 4.30pm with dinner being the first meal at around 7pm to Sunday after lunch around 2pmHere is some feedback from people who have been:”Just had the most amazing camp at Falling Creek. The hosts Mel and Zane are amazing, their hosting skills left nothing to chance and their attention to detail was fantastic. Zane’s horse knowledge is ‘wow’ and, if I can think of anymore positive words, their horse’s and treks were once in a lifetime activities, western riding over 4-5hrs without touching a road, dream come true riding. Thanks again and we will be back.””Just completed the Adult Camp over Labour Day weekend. Really could not ask for anything better. Hosts, food, weather, countryside, people on the camp all were excellent. Highly recommend for any level of rider. Thanks again.””Mel & Zane, thanks for another lovely weekend with some great people, in a fab place with beautiful horses, dogs, and scenery, I have to mention once again thanks for the effort RE great food and comfortable sleeping. Your place is a warm and welcoming haven of happiness. Thanks for being such great hosts and making our weekend so special.”Cost: We are a third of the price of other NZ multiday treks, but just as good, with the only real difference being our accommodation is in our home and a shared bathrooms situation. People that have been to our camp love the horses, the scenery, the friendships and fun had and the food! Some have been 2 or 3, even 7 times!
